Fabrics for holy Vestments, ecclesiastical robes and Flags

We always have available in stock a vast assortment of fabrics for holy vestments and ecclesiastical robes:

  • silk and artificial fibre yarns (cupro/viscose) faille,
  • silk taffeta and ermesine (light taffeta),
  • silk and mixed silk/cotton duchesse,
  • heavy cupro/cotton fabric,
  • silk shantung,
  • silk moire,
  • silk and gold and silk and silver lame.

Other articles can be made upon request, such as damasks and other jacquard fabrics.

Since these fabrics are manufactured by using reactive-colour- dyed yarns, they can also be used for the production of flags and ‘gonfalons’.

Ribbons for ecclesiastical robes and Mayors’ tricolour Sashes

We manufacture these articles either in silk or in cupro/cotton mix by means of old restored shuttle looms, that make it possible to obtain ribbons with the traditional closed selvedge and not with leno selvedge that is the result of shuttless looms.

Ribbons for cassocks are produced in 13 or 15 cm width in the traditional ecclesiastical colours. The tricolour sashes for mayors and for inauguration ceremonies are in 13 cm width.

All these products are ready in stock for immediate delivery.

Fabric for Tricolour Flags

Seteria Bianchi supplied, for many years, the leading manufacturers of official flags for National Institutions (President of Italian Republic, Prime Minister, the Army, the Navy) with the tricolor fabric. We manufactured two articles, one in 100% silk (weight 140 g/m2) and another one in cupro-cotton blend (weight 240 g/m2), in different widths (62, 100, 125, 150 e 180 cm), in order to make all different kinds of official Italian flags. We also produced a similar two-colour white/yellow article for the flag of the Vatican City State. For the production of these items a traditional shuttle loom was used, as we did for the above-mentioned ribbons and sashes, in order to obtain the closed selvedge. Unfortunately this production was stopped. However, we still have some fabrics available in stock (please refer to our catalogue). Should we receive requests for these items, we will be in a position to start again their production thanks to our great know-how.
